Screen printing

The colour is applied with a fine fabric. This fabric is made impermeable to colour with a template wherever colours should be applied.

This process enables printing on curved surfaces in addition to flat surfaces. It enables a thick and thus very durable colour application. However, the printing speed is comparatively slow.

In addition, there are clear limitations with continuous colour transitions and photo-realistic replication. A special film and printing screen are used for each print colour, which entails high equipment costs for small quantities or multiple-colour subjects. In these cases, digital printing is the better alternative.
