Solar power charging through connection to inverters with SunSpec

The SunSpec Alliance is a global association of players in the decentralized energy industry who are working together to develop information standards for the interoperability of plug & play systems, grid connection and secure data communication for decentralized energy technologies and electric vehicles. With "Charging through connection to inverters with SunSpec", the wallbox communicates directly with a SunSpec-compatible inverter and receives information about the generator output. Based on this data, simple and cost-effective solar-assisted charging of the electric vehicle with a high solar component is possible.

Parameter configuration

To do this, open the app and go to System and then to Settings. Next click System integrationand then Active charging current control and follow the instructions in the app. The following parameters must be set:

Step 1/2:

Charging current control parameter overview

App Parameter

Setting

External meter

Selection:
- Modbus SunSpec (TCP)

Note: The inverter must support SunSpec 1.1 information model 113.

IP address of the external Modbus TCP meter

Entry of the inverter's IP address
(Note: The inverter must be assigned a static IP address in the network so that it never changes, even with DHCP assignment)

Port of the external Modbus TCP meter

502 (standard - reserved for Modbus)

External meter connection type

Selection:

  • PV generation

Step 2/2:

Charging current control parameter overview

App Parameter

Setting

Active charging current control

Activate

Charging mode

Selection:

  • Maximum output:

The vehicle is charged as quickly as possible at 11 kW.

  • PV/mains charging:

PV charging from approx. 4.1 to 11 kW If the minimum charging power is not reached, the charging process is automatically continued with mains power.

  • PV/mains charging+ (only with phase disconnection, from wallbox software version 5.33.1) upwards:

PV charging from approx. 1.4 to 11 kW If the minimum charging power is not reached, the charging process is continued with mains power. Activation of the automatic phase disconnection is required.

  • Solar charging+ (only with phase disconnection, from wallbox software version 5.33.1) upwards:

Charging is exclusively with PV power, without mains power. If the minimum charging power is not reached, the charging process is paused. Activation of the automatic phase disconnection is required.

Once parametrisation is complete, click Apply and transfer the settings to the Spelsberg Wallbox via NFC or network communication.
