Development competence in electromobility

  • aixACCT was founded in 1999 and is divided into three business areas: test systems for automobiles, microsystems technology and electromobility
  • In 2015 the development of own charging systems was started
  • The functional solutions are aimed at major customers with vehicle fleets
  • Customers with more than 10,000 charging points installed in recent years

The company

Founded in 1999, aixACCT is now active in three business areas. While the focus was initially on test systems and components for the automotive industry and microsystems technology, the course was set in 2015 for specialization in the field of electromobility with the development of our own charging systems. And with great success: Some six years later, e-mobility under the aixACCT charging solutions umbrella accounts for a major part of the group's activities.
The functional solutions for sustainable mobility are aimed at major customers who want to supply their vehicle fleet with energy from a range of charging points through to entire charging parks.

aixACCT charging solutions operates across Europe playing a central role as a supplier of charging infrastructure on the international market in the medium term. Companies like Deutsche Post are already benefiting from the more than 10,000 charging points that have been installed in recent years.

In developing its AC and DC charging infrastructure, the electromobility expert attaches particular importance to the integration of different components according to VDE and CE test standards in a sngle module as well as competent services from a single source.

"In choosing the right housing, it was very important to us not only that it meets the required protection class IP44, but that we can offer our customers solutions that can withstand heavy rain and storms over the long term."

Dr Stephan Tiedke, General Manager aixACCT Group

The project in detail

The right solution

To protect the sensitive components, the decision-makers had clear requirements for a suitable housing: "When choosing the right housing, it was very important to us that it not only meets the required protection class IP44, but that we can offer our customers solutions that can withstand heavy rain and storms over the long term." In addition, impact resistance should be guaranteed in order to be able to provide a constantly functioning charging infrastructure in both non-public and public spaces.

The aixACCT Group has had a good business relationship with Spelsberg since 2015. In a personal exchange, the problem of finding suitable housings was raised with the experts for electrical installation and housing technology. It quickly became clear that Spelsberg can fully meet the requirements mentioned with its GEOS outdoor housings and has numerous customization options.

Individual protection

The product series, consisting of empty housings and control cabinets, impresses with its robustness, flexibility and maximum security. The longevity is primarily ensured by the high-quality and robust material polycarbonate (PC). This is UV-stable and weather-resistant and protects internal installations from very high or low temperatures and the effects of oils or fats. In addition, there is a special design based on the GEOS “Drain Protect” sealing principle, which uses a number of measures to make the housing permanently resistant to the ingress of moisture. All products comply with the high degree of protection IP66/IP67, are extensively certified according to IEC 62208, UL 50, UL 50E and CSA 22.2, and are tested according to IEC 61439.

In addition, fastening domes in the box and the intelligent installation system contribute significantly to the flexibility of the series. The latter enables tool-free, quick installation in a 25 mm grid. In this way, a variable assembly with application-typical components can take place without impairing the technical properties.

Broad range of skills

Together with aixACCT charging solutions, the Spelsberg team developed the right solution for accommodating all components for the charging systems. Thanks to the wide range of expertise and versatile services, housings can be adapted to customer requirements at any time. This includes milling, engraving, drilling or the positioning of pre-embossing. However, printing, inscriptions, embossing or the application of logos are also easily possible. In addition, Spelsberg has an in-house test laboratory at the company's site in Schalksmühle, so that customers can bring their solutions to the market with proven top quality. The tests take place in accordance with the specifications of the VDE, TÜV and the Underwriters Laboratories (UL).

For Jochen Olivier, Head of Electromobility at aixACCT charging solutions, the flexibility and the diverse know-how of Spelsberg are decisive for the good cooperation: "For us it is essential to have a partner who can respond to different requirements at any time. With Spelsberg, we can always rely on fast and flexible solutions - from individual bores to special sealing variants, to the use of the in-house research laboratory for inspection and testing purposes."

Long-term partnership

The many years of good cooperation are reflected not least in the multiple projects implemented throughout Europe. These include equipping hundreds of company locations with charging infrastructures throughout Germany and setting up Europe's largest charging park with a total of 340 AC charging points - all in under four weeks. aixACCT would like to continue driving developments in the field of electromobility in the future and in doing so will rely on Spelsberg's high level of expertise. "It is important to continue to meet the dynamic requirements of the market in the coming years, especially in the area of digital solutions. In doing so, we will build on Spelsberg's development expertise in order to advance internationalization in a targeted manner," concludes Jochen Olivier.
